Fire Guts Hotel in Anambra

A hotel in Enu-Avomimi, Enugu-Ukwu, Anambra State has been gutted by fire thereby destroying properties worth millions.

The fire which was caused by a power surge was said to have started around 4.35 am on Wednesday, February 1.

Reports held that two rooms were completely taxed before the arrival of the firefighters.

Fortunately, State Fire Chief Engr Martin Agbili stated that no life was lost during the inferno.

He however said his men were able to control the fire from spreading and engulfing the entire building.

He said:

At about 0435hrs of today 01-02-2023, Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call of fire outbreak at Wiggo Hotel and Suites, Enu-Avomimi, Enugu-Ukwu, Anambra State.

“Immediately, we deployed our fire truck and Fireghters to the fire scene. The fire was caused by power surge from one of the air conditioning.

“Two rooms with its properties were completely burnt but we were able to control the fire from spreading and engulfing the entire building.

“We withdrew of men at about 0630hrs after a successful fire operation.”
