VIDEO: Fola David Sets New Guinness World Record for Largest Drawing

Nigerian doctor and hyper-realism artist Fola David has achieved a new Guinness World Record for the largest drawing by an individual.

David, based in Lagos, set out to create a 1,000 square meter artwork celebrating Nigeria’s diverse cultures. His record-breaking attempt began on July 16 at Onikan Stadium and continued for six days.

On Friday night, David shared on social media: “Congratulations to us all. On Day 4 at 9 pm, we surpassed the previous record of 629.98 square meters. We’re aiming for over 1,000 square meters and are currently at 689 square meters. Let’s keep going!”

Among those who visited Fola David during his attempt were 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former GWR holder Hilda Baci, and businessman Farooq Oreagba. Support also came from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, where David is an alumnus.
