Relegated Nigerian club Akwa United have announced the passing of the Nigeria legend, Emmanuel Udoh.
According to an official club statement, Udoh died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
> “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our Team Manager, Sir Emmanuel Udoh KSJ, who passed away peacefully in his sleep,” said Mfon Patrick, the club’s Media Manager.

Football Legend Remembered
From Green Eagles to Akwa United
Emmanuel Udoh was a former right-back for the Green Eagles who previously played for Bendel Insurance and Calabar Rovers.
He was known as “Bullet” because of his strong hitting.
Beyond the Pitch
Following retirement, Udoh was made the secretary of the Akwa Ibom State Football Association for more than ten years.
He led Akwa United through its most prosperous period as team manager in 2013.
Guiding Akwa United to Glory
In 2015 and 2017, Udoh led Akwa United to FA Cup victories, and in 2021, the team won the Nigeria Premier Football League, solidifying his place as a pivotal role in the club’s history.
