The former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde is dead.
Lamorde died at the age of 61 in Egypt, where he was receiving medical treatment, according to sources close to the family.
He had a distinguished career in law enforcement, serving as a police officer for over three decades before joining the EFCC in 2003.

The Late EFCC Boss played a key role in shaping the agency’s operations as its pioneer Director of Operations and later served as Acting Chairman twice before his confirmation as substantive Chairman in 2012.

During his tenure at the EFCC, Lamorde oversaw several high-profile corruption cases and was instrumental in recovering billions of naira in stolen assets.
He retired from the police force in 2021 as a Deputy Inspector General of Police.
