A former Nigerian minister of Aviation, Alabo Tonye Graham-Douglas is dead.

The prominent Rivers State indigene, who also served as minister of youths, sports, and culture, died on Monday.

Born May 8, 1939, Graham-Douglas was appointed Nigeria’s Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture in 1989, and then Minister of Aviation under General Ibrahim Babaginda.

He was appointed Minister of Labour and Productivity, and in 2000, Minister of Tourism by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999, before leaving office in January 2001.

While there is no official statement from the family announcing his demise, the octogenarian is said to have died from an undisclosed ailment he has been battling for sometime.

Graham-Douglas who hailed from Abonnema in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, and was also a Commissioner for Youths, Sports, and Culture in the state.
