Some filling stations in Abuja have reduced petrol pump prices following the recent gantry price cut announced by Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

However, other marketers are yet to adjust their prices. Retail outlets operated by Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), MRS and AA Rano reportedly maintained higher prices, ranging between about ₦1,260 and ₦1,330 per litre as of Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, the price of Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) remained unchanged at around ₦1,780 per litre across several filling stations in the federal capital.

A manager at an MRS filling station, who declined to be named, confirmed that their pump price was still about ₦1,260 per litre and did not indicate whether a reduction would follow in the coming days.

Reacting to the development, National President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry, said filling stations may begin adjusting pump prices downward before the end of the week.

He noted that the adjustment could take effect between now and Friday following the refinery’s decision to cut its petrol gantry price to ₦1,075 per litre.

Reports also indicate that the refinery had temporarily suspended gantry petrol sales since Sunday, a situation analysts say could delay the immediate impact of the price cut on retail pump prices nationwide.
