Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has identified three players he believes could contend for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

In The Overlap newsletter, Neville named Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, and Phil Foden as top candidates. All three England stars were included in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Season, released on Monday.

Neville noted that only France, with players like Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, can match England’s attacking talent.

He wrote: “The UEFA team of the season was released on Monday, featuring the best players in the Champions League for 2023-24, and Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, and Harry Kane were all included.

“All three will be Ballon d’Or contenders at the end of the year. Only France, with Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, have comparable attacking talent to England right now.”
