Scripture Union of Nigeria has warned youths to stay off of gambling of all kinds.

The group gave the advice at a two-day annual student rally on the theme: “Youths like the Rechabites Generation”, held at Grace Chrysolite School, Ado-Soba and St. Barth’s Anglican Church, Satellite Town, Lagos.

President of Scripture Union, Satellite Group, Izuchukwu Chukwujindu, further explained the consequences of gambling to youths at the event.

He said:

“Gambling attracts the criminal element of the society and results in broken homes, theft and murder with starving children, broken-hearted loved ones, depression and suicide.”

Quoting the Bible, he admonished the youths to emulate the children of Rechabite who obeyed the words of their father and lived long.

Also speaking was the Scripture Union, Festac Zonal Secretary, Shadrach Odi.

On his side, he said:

“We are trying to let the youths know that they can still uphold truth and morality in a collapsing society. Students nowadays are engaging in cultism, gambling and all manner of social vices; this rally is our way of reaching out to them.”
