Gully Erosion Claims Life In Delta Community

Residents of Agbor has been thrown into mourning after gully erosion claimed the life of a yet-to-be-identified victim at Alibuoba quarters, Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

This is coming barely 3 years after two teenagers aged 15 and 17 of same parents were killed by gully erosion in Alibuoba quarters Agbor.

The lifeless body of the victim was seen lying deep down in the gully measuring over 50 feet deep and 30 feet wide along the Universal Basic Education (UBE) Road, beside Agbor Technical college on Saturday.

According to residents in the area, their attention was drawn to the incident following the discomforting stench oozing out from the gully where the decomposing body of the victim was seen.

The Chairman, Landlords/Landladies Association in the Area, Comrade Chukwuyem Odia while reacting to the development said the erosion menace has continued to pose great challenge and danger to residents in the area.

Odia also noted that residents are beginning to relocate from the area and called on relevant authorities to come to their aid.

He said efforts by Landlords and residents in the area in checking the erosion had not yielded any result as the challenge had gone out of their reach.

He recalled that the association had severally reached out to some relevant authorities, particularly the Member representing Ika South Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Festus Chukwuyem Okoh, Member representing Ika Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Victor Nwokolo, among others, yet nothing was done
