Gunmen Kidnap Corps Members Returning From Camp in Rivers

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped some members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the victims were on their way back from the recent orientation camping exercise in Ondo state.

They were taken around 9 pm om Tuesday their way to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The incident was confirmed by a witness who called into a radio station in the city to announce the abduction of her sister-in-law and colleagues.

The witness narrated that the Corps members were abducted along the Rumuji axis of the East-West Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Five of the corps members were said to have escaped the abduction and reported at the Rumuji Divisional Police Station.

Kogi: Two Corps Members, Others Missing as Gunmen Attack INEC Officials

Spokesperson for Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, while confirming the incident, said “some of the corps members have been rescued while efforts are on to rescue the remaining corps members.”

Number victims abducted by the kidnappers could not be ascertained as of press time.
