The police have arrested Marcel Udeh, a man from Umunneochi Local Government Area (LGA) in Abia State, following the tragic death of his son.

According to a community source, the son’s offense was simply that he returned home and consumed the last portion of food from a pot in the family’s kitchen.

Udeh, reportedly enraged that his late son had taken food without seeking permission, allegedly stormed into his room, retrieved a firearm, and fired at him.

Members of the community swiftly apprehended the father, binding his hands and placing him beside the lifeless body of his child.

Another account of the incident suggested that the suspect used a sharp object on his son, leading to the fatal outcome.

In a desperate plea for mercy, Udeh attributed his actions to the influence of the devil, expressing deep regret for the irreversible consequences.

ASP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Abia State Command, has confirmed that the incident was reported at the Umunneochi Division

Chinaka added that the suspect is now in custody, awaiting further investigation and legal proceedings.

The PPRO said:

Yes, we got a report at Umunneochi Division, the suspect has been arrested and the matter has currently been transferred to the SCID for discreet investigation and will be charged to Court afterwards.”
