Veteran American actor Robert Duvall, widely acclaimed for his roles in The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, has died at the age of 95.

His wife, Luciana Duvall, announced his passing in a statement shared on his official Facebook page. She said he died peacefully at home on Sunday.

“Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort,” she wrote.

“To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything,” she added.

She described his passion for acting as unwavering, noting that he gave his all to every role he played.

Duvall’s career spanned more than six decades across film, television and stage.

A graduate of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York, he trained alongside fellow actors Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman.

He began acting in the late 1950s before gaining recognition for his portrayal of Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird.

Duvall later achieved global fame as Tom Hagen in The Godfather and its sequel.

He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Mac Sledge in Tender Mercies.

Other notable works in his illustrious career include The Great Santini and Lonesome Dove.

Tributes have begun pouring in from across the entertainment industry, celebrating a performer whose legacy shaped generations of actors and filmmakers.
