Suspected political thugs on Friday attacked the vehicle of Senator Danjuma Goje, a former governor of Gombe State, stopping him from entering Gombe, the state capital.

The irate youths reportedly attacked the former governor’s vehicles with various dangerous weapons.

Lilian Nworie, media aide to Senator Goje told newsmen her boss had traveled to Gomber for a personal engagement.

Nworie said, “Senator Goje had a serious encounter with some political thugs who burnt tyres on the main road as he was about to enter the state capital around International Conference Centre on the Bauchi – Gombe Road.

“Policemen stationed at the area refused to call the thugs to order as they were watching them cause mayhem in the state,” Nworie added.

Speculations are rife that there could be a rift between the State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya and Goje.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria has revealed it spent over N58 billion to print 2 billion Naira notes.
