A 25-year-old househelp has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by a court in Nyamira County, Kenya, for sexually assaulting her employer’s a 2-year-old daughter.
The accused, Martha Bosire, who was arraigned before Keroka Senior Resident Magistrate Simon Arome for committing the offence on different occasions between November 14, and December 9, 2021, confessed to having inserted her fingers into the private parts of the daughter of her employer on separate days and thereafter used spirit to treat the wound and gave the baby sweets to buy her silence.
Martha, speaking to the court, said she accepted her wrongdoing, and also pleaded for Forgiveness and promised not to repeat a similar offence in the future. She however added that she has no parents and she has a baby who depend, verbs on her.

According to the prosecuting counsel, the grandmother to the minor became concerned when she checked her daughters private parts and found out that she had visible injuries after which they reported the matter to the police.
The baby was further taken to Borabu Sub County Hospital where she was treated and it was established that she was sexually assaulted.
The court was shocked by Martha’s calmness and easy acceptance of the charges presented against her as she appeared undeterred as she was taken away to start her jail term.
