Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed that she and her husband, Will Smith have been separate since 2016.
The couple, who were married for over two decades, have been living completely separate lives for seven years, but they were not ready to publicly reveal the news before she confessed to NBC.
The pair have been separated six years before the “Oscars Slap” incident.
By the time they separated, they were “exhausted with trying,” according to her.

Pinkett Smith, 52, told NBC in an interview clip that she promised herself that she and Smith, 55, would never get a divorce and said she has not been able to break that promise.
The pair still lived separately but did not plan on divorcing.
Pinkett Smith said they concealed their separation because they were “just not… ready yet” and “still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in partnership.”
She added:
“We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.
“We had been living separate lives and were there as family, not as husband and wife.”
Will Smith and Pinkett Smith got married after they met on the set of his sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” in 1994.
The Hollywood power couple’s union produced two children, Jaden and Willow.
