ICYMI: Ajimobi Buried Under Tight Security

Following a disagreement between the government of Oyo state, and the families of Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the remains of the erstwhile governor has been laid to rest.

The former two-tenure governor of Oyo state was buried amid heavy security on Sunday, in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Senator Ajimobi was laid to rest at his Ibadan residence, 6th Avenue, Yemoja Street, Oluyole Estate residence according to Islamic rites.

The Ajimobi family had picked the Agodi GRA as their preferred burial site for the former lawmaker. The location was disapproved by the Oyo State Government, saying the property had pending litigation issues.

Ajimobi who was made Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress while on his hailing bed, was buried as about 10:05am on Sunday.

The 70-year-old politician was buried with strict adherence to coronavirus protocols as recommended by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC.

The burial procession was attended by less than 20 persons, including his wife, Chief Florence Ajimobi, alongside close family members of Ajimobi.

Ajimobi’s party faithfuls and other loyal friends and acquaintances of were barred from entering the of the burial.

Armed and fearful looking policemen were positioned at strategic locations in the premises, preventing movements in and out of the environment.
