Governor Dabid Umahi of Ebonyi State, has been declared winner of the Ebonyi South Senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Umahi’s emergence as flag bearer for the ruling party followed the conduction of a fresh primary election over the weekend.
According to the Chairman of the APC electoral panel, Prof Emmanuel Adebayo Kehinde, a total of five aspirants participated in the fresh election.

Other contestants included the governor’s younger brother, Austin Chukwu Umahi, David Umahi, Mrs Ann Agom-Eze, Mrs Ibiam Margret Ezenwanyi, and Mrs Chiko Elizabeth Nwakaego.
The election took place at Afikpo North Local Government Area and was witnessed by prominent stakeholders of the state, including members of the state executive council.
Umahi polled a total of 260 votes to emerge winner, Ezenwanyi scored 3 votes, Nwakaego scored 5 votes, while 7 votes were declared invalid.
The governor’s younger brother, Austin Chukwu Umahi, come second in the polls even though he boycotted he process.
Governor Umahi has since reacted to the outcome of the election, thanking the entire people of Ebonyi State for giving the him Ebonyi South Senatorial ticket.
