Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has declared that he would rather forfeit his life than betray his political benefactor and immediate predecessor, Ibrahim Gaidam.
Buni made the remark on Tuesday while addressing delegates at the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress in Damaturu, the state capital.

He expressed deep gratitude to Gaidam for supporting his political rise, stressing that loyalty and trust define his career.

According to him, betrayal has never been part of his record, noting that he remains committed to honouring those who stood by him.
The governor charged newly elected party officials to uphold integrity and remain steadfast in their responsibilities. He also highlighted achievements recorded under his administration in education, healthcare, empowerment and commerce, assuring residents of continued focus on development.
On succession, Buni urged APC members to seek divine guidance in choosing the party’s next governorship candidate, calling for support for a leader capable of uniting the party and sustaining ongoing projects.
