Two detained aides of Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, have been charged with terrorism by the Department of State.

The accusations were brought to the Federal High Court in Abuja after the secret police arrested and detained the activist’s two assistants and the DSS refused to grant them bail despite a court order for nearly two months.

The DSS, through its lawyer S.M. Bello, filed five terrorism charges against Noah Oyetunji and Amudat Babatunde in the suit no FHC/ABJ/CR/305/2021, which was filed on August 31, 2021. (female).

The DSS claimed that Oyetunji had fire guns in his possession for terrorism-related operations, while Babatunde used her Facebook account to advocate terroristic crimes.

Later on, the detainees lawyer pelumi olanjegbensi refuted the claim saying The charges are baseless, vexatious, shameful and without limbs.”

As of recent, we had earlier reported that After more than 60 days in jail following their arrest on July 1, the DSS released 10 of Igboho’s 12 assistants last week.

Moreover, The DSS had detained 12 of Igboho’s associates during a midnight raid on his Soka mansion in Ibadan, Oyo State, and took them away to Abuja, where they had been held in jail.

The captives had sought the court’s help in obtaining their fundamental right to liberty.

The 12 detainees were granted bail by Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on August 4, 2021.
