The leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Western Zone, has cautioned against the continued spread of falsehoods targeting Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, describing recent criticisms as unpatriotic and counterproductive to the development of the Niger Delta region.

In a statement signed by Comr. Nicholas Tamaradenyefa Igarama (Chairman), Ebi Joshua Olowolayemo Esq. (Secretary), and Comrade Tare Magbei (Information Officer), the council highlighted the noticeable improvement in pipeline security since Tantita Security Services’ engagement by the Federal Government.

The statement reads, “Since the engagement of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, the narrative surrounding crude oil theft and illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta has significantly changed. Today, the menace of rampant oil theft has been drastically curtailed, and the ecosystem of the Niger Delta is gradually being restored, largely due to the purposeful leadership and commitment demonstrated by Tantita Security Services.”

Ijaw youths urged all well-meaning Nigerians to extend moral support to Tantita rather than succumb to “unwarranted criticism” and deliberate misrepresentation by individuals more interested in pleasing sponsors than presenting facts.

The council also directed a message to the Joint National Assembly Committees on Petroleum Resources, including chairpersons of upstream, midstream, downstream, and gas sectors, to carry out oversight on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and pipeline contracts with professionalism and strict adherence to constitutional processes.

It reads further, “The National Assembly must be guided by verifiable facts and historical records. As of August 2022, prior to the award of the surveillance contract to Tantita Security Services.

“Nigeria’s crude oil production stood at about 972,394 barrels per day. Today, production has increased to approximately 1.68 million barrels per day, bringing the country closer to meeting the supply benchmarks set by OPEC.”

The IYC Western Zone emphasised that such statistics are critical for objective evaluation of Tantita Security Services’ contributions to Nigeria’s oil sector stability and economic well-being.

The council urged Ijaw sons and daughters to continue supporting Tantita’s initiatives for the sustained development of the Niger Delta and the country at large.
