  • Popular Indian bussinesman, Ratan Tata has passed away at the age of 86.

  • The industrialist’s 21-year reign as leader of the Tata group ended on October 9, 2024.

Ratan Tata, who was widely known in the country and abroad for his renowned transforming of a family-owned business into a multi-millionaire bussines has kicked the bucket.

The company revealed the news of his demise to the general public on Wednesday, October 9.

“It is with deep sorrow that we say goodbye to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, an extraordinary leader whose immense contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the nation itself,”

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. His legacy will continue to inspire us as we uphold the values he championed.”

Also singing praises of the deceased, Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi described him as “a visionary business leader, a compassionate soul, and an extraordinary human being.”

Also taking to his official Twitter page, he praised the leadership of Ratan Tata, while sending condolences to the family.

Tata, who had always wanted to be an architect, and was working in the United States was came back to India when his grandmother, who raised him requested he comes back to join the family bussines (which was known then as TISCO).

He was reportedly living in a hostel apprentices and working on the shop floor near blast furnaces.

 

He assumed leadership in 1991, and his 21-year leadership is said to be great as the company’s global presence increased.

Tata further acquired British luxurious brands like Jaguar and Land Rover.

He is also known for his philanthropy as the company described his works “touched the lives of millions” and left a lasting impact in areas such as education and healthcare. “His initiatives have created a legacy that will benefit generations to come,”
