The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports claiming it suspended the proposed delineation of wards in Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South-West Federal Constituency following a Supreme Court judgment.
In a press statement issued on Monday, September 29, 2025, and signed by National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Sam Olumekun (mni), INEC said the report, published by a national newspaper, was based on a misquotation of one of its officials.

According to the Commission: “Contrary to the report, the proposed delineation has not been suspended and no final decision has been taken on the matter.”

INEC further confirmed that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise is ongoing across all local government areas in the constituency, stressing that the process is unaffected by the ward delineation matter.
The Commission appealed to all parties involved in the dispute to maintain peace while the process unfolds.
The clarification comes nearly three years after the Supreme Court’s December 2, 2022 ruling, which ordered the delineation of wards in the Warri Federal Constituency.
