The Independent National Electoral Commission will meet leaders of the various political parties today (Monday)ahead of the forthcoming presidential election and the National Assembly elections on February 25.

The meeting would take place inside the commission’s conference room.

According to reports, the meeting would review preparations for the general elections and possibly take feedback from the political parties on their state of preparedness for the polls.

Those expected to appear were the national chairmen and national secretaries of the 18 registered political parties fielding candidates in the elections.

Meanwhile, the commission has said it planned to decongest polling units that are overcrowded to allow for a stress-free voting exercise during the forthcoming elections.

It said this was in the exercise of its powers under Section 40(2) of the Electoral Act, 2022, saying it has allotted voters from overcrowded polling units to less congested polling units within the same location to promote a more pleasant and stress-free voting experience on election day.

The commission enjoined eligible voters to visit the INEC voter verification system on: www.cvr.inecnigeria.org/vvs or voters.inecnigeria.org to check their name on the register of voters and confirm the location of their polling unit where they will vote on election day.

The commission promised that the list of registered voters in the 176,846 polling units nationwide would be on display at each polling unit before the day of the election.

INEC hence encouraged eligible voters to visit their polling units to check for their names on the register and confirm the location of their polling unit where they will vote.
