- Governor Yusuf updates Tinubu on rising banditry in Kano
- Presidency approves deployment of specialised security team
- Kano plans drones, logistics and surveillance upgrades
- Government urges community intelligence to curb attacks
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has raised alarm over the recent surge in bandit attacks across Kano communities, disclosing that he has already met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discuss the worsening situation. According to him, the President acknowledged the severity of the threat and immediately ordered that a specialised security team be moved into the state.
During a security assessment tour of affected areas including Shanono, Tsanyawa and Bagwai LGAs, the Governor was accompanied by Brigade Commanders, the Commissioner of Police, and the Director of the DSS. He said the visit became necessary following repeated invasions, killings and abductions across vulnerable communities.

Governor Yusuf emphasised that intelligence sharing from residents remains the strongest defence for preventing further attacks. He assured the public that his administration, alongside the Federal Government will not relent in providing protection and operational support.
He further announced that plans for additional logistics and rapid-response mobility are already in motion. Surveillance drones and border-monitoring technology, he said, will be deployed around the Kano–Katsina axis to track bandits more effectively.

“We are aware they have been attacking innocent communities, especially here in Tsanyawa and Shanono. Many lives were lost, and many people were taken into the bush,” the Governor said.
“By God’s grace, those kidnapped will be returned to their families.”
With these new measures, the government hopes to strengthen defence lines and restore safety in rural and border settlements where bandits have operated freely in recent months.
