Maximize your potentials, Akpoyibo tells Burutu youths

A chieftain of the National Youth Council of Nigeriain Burutu local government area, Comrade John Akpoyibo has charged youths in the Council to make themselves useful to the society.

In an exclusive chat with Daily Report Nigeria, the erstwhile Secretary of NYCN Burutu, called for youths to invest in themselves in a bid to maximising their inherent potentials.

The youth leader stressed on the need for youths to prepare themselves to fit in as key players of governance, saying the government of the day is not complete without the engagement of youths. And as such, youths must be prepared mentally to be called upon in due time.

“Our political leaders don’t know it all. If you’re not prepared mentally, how will they call upon you to render help when it’s needed? How will they know what you can bring to the table, how will they employ your expertise or consult you for results,” he quizzed.

Noting that success is preceded by preparation, Akpoyibo beckoned on youths to invest in themselves in preparation to take over leadership.

“Don’t be moved by activities that will not make a mark in your future. Success is first investing in yourself, and then investing in others when you’ve built capacity. That way, people will see reason for youth engagement and that will open up doors for youths to charge the government to release more funds for youth development.

“If the government of the day is building the youths, it is building the nation. No youths, no government.

“Even if the government cannot avail us all the opportunities, can we maximise the little before us?’ He queried.

He advised youths to take advantage of the technology age to invest in themselves and build momentum for the future, even as their self reliable people.

Akpoyibi further charged youths to be actively involved in politics, using their discretion as independent people.

The Chairmanship aspirant in the recent NYCN elections in Burutu lauded the efforts of young people in the local government of the Comrade Community, who have distinguished themselves as independent people.

He particularly singled out the likes of Comrade Ozobo Austin, Princewill Binebai, Pastor Arex Akemotubo, Gesikeme Akpule, for commendation, for remaining consistent and being voices among their peers.

“We know the likes of Comrade Ozobo were helpless at a point in their lives because of their commitment in the struggle for liberation, but he remained astute. Today the results are there for everyone to see.

“All these people have made indelible for them marks both in the local government, Delta state and Ijaw Nation at large,” he added.

Stressing that self investment is beyond going to school to earn a certificate, Akpoyibo called on youths to emulate the good practices in their quests for making impact.
