Ivan Meléndez Luque died after a crash on the queen stage of the Junior Tour of Spain between Langa de Duero and Laguna Negra.

The 17-year-old, who raced for the Tenerife-Cabberty U19 team, went down in a mass pile-up that involved about 20 riders.
Medical crews treated several cyclists at the scene and moved 18 to hospital in Soria; three arrived in serious condition, including Meléndez.
Race organisers immediately halted the event, cancelled the remaining stages and held a public tribute in Aranda del Duero the next morning.
The UCI said it felt “deeply saddened,” offered condolences and paid tribute to a “promising young rider.”
This tragedy follows other recent fatalities in junior and U23 races, and it has prompted fresh concern about rider safety and race protections.
Officials say they will review safety measures and procedures as part of the response.
