IYC Congratulates Angele, Omoun, Manager on Commissioner Appointments | Daily Report Nigeria

The Ijaw Youth Council Western Zone has congratulated the trio of Perez Omoun, Funyei Manager and Godknows Angele on their inauguration as members of the Delta State Executive Council.

In a statement signed by the trio of Doubra Okotete (Chairman), Olu Derimo (Secretary) and Lugard Izoukumor (Information Officer), the IYC charged the newly inaugurated commissioners to address pressing issues across Ijaw areas in the state.

The statement read;

“The leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Western Zone, has urged the Hon. Commissioners from Ijaw ethnic group in Delta State, to address the problems facing the people as a matter of priority in Exco meeting.

“Our people are suffering and most have become so bitter about the situation of the Ayakomor bridge, off Ogulagha- Odimodi road project and the school of marine technology, Burutu just to mention a few.

“While, we are indeed happy for these appointments, still we owe it a duty to remind them that, their appointments is coming at a critical time where food security and housing crises in Ijaw areas are skyrocketing and in a doldrum.

“We, therefore, convey our hearty congratulations to, Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele, Housing, Hon. Perez Omoun, Agriculture and Natural Resources and Barr. Fuyei Manager, Special Projects for their well-deserved appointments and successful swearing-in by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori. We thank His Excellency for appointing these competent, trusted, and patriotic men from our dear ethnic group [Ijaw] to be in his administration where they will formulate and implement progressive policies in attaining His Excellency’s MORE Agenda.

“However, we are also appealing for His Excellency, the Governor to consider appointing another Commissioner from Burutu Local Government Area. This is long over due and we eagerly wait for it to happen.

“While, we express our total confidence from those appointed; on one hand. On the other hand, we are reminding our brand new Hon. Commissioners the critical need for them to work together to ensure critical projects in Ijaw areas are actualised as well as other strategic areas such as employment opportunities, for our youths, working with ethnic groups and partnering with the IYC in particular, such as the way their Commissioner colleagues engage with their sociocultural groups for pro-people’s projects and inclusive governance.”

“The IYC, is always open for constructive engagement where we can partner and compare notes to ensure Ijaw Commissioners excel and where our people can be proud of them and also enjoy good governance.”
