– Calls for provision of medical supplies for Ogbe-Ijoh General hospital
The Ijaw Youth Council, Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom has called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state to cement the peace that has returned to the neighboring communities of Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh.
Aladja in Udu local government area, and Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South West local government area had been at loggerheads over land disputes for decades until 2020, when youths of both communities under the aegis of Aladja-Ogbe-Ijoh Peace Vanguard stepped in to salvage the situation.
There has been dangling peace between both communities since the intervention of the Peace Vanguard, which also caught the attention of the state government, and promised to put a final nail to the long-lingered crisis.

In a statement on Monday by it’s chairman, Victor Akemotubo, the IYC stressed the need for lasting peace to return to both communities cannot be overemphasized.
The pressure group charged the Governor Okowa-led state government to fulfil it’s promise of returning absolute peace to the communities, as well as a final demarcation on the said land.
The statement called for Governor Okowa “to intensify efforts towards the demarcation of the lingering land dispute between Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja.”
Akemotubo asserted a final demarcation of the land under dispute will cause eternal peace and development to thrive.
“In the opinion of the IYC, Obgbe-Ijoh Warri Clan, sustainable development cannot be sustained where there are disputes. Hence, we call on the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Senator Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa as a matter of seriousness, urgency and utmost importance to demarcate the land.”
“Governor Okowa should sustain peace between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh before the end of his tenure. Ogbe-Ijoh town is the host to the local government council, therefore, it is proper Okowa to call on the boundary adjustment committee or better still set up a proper boundary adjustment committee to expedite action on demarcating the land, because this will be the only thing the good people of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom will remember him for.”
“Peace is the ultimate price for development and these warring communities, thus have demonstrated that they are ready for peace [the people of Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja], so Governor Okowa should intensify efforts for the peace and unity of both Communities; regardless of political interests.”
The group also called on Governor Okowa “to provide medical aide for the Ogbe-Ijoh General Hospital to enable doctors give the needed medical attention to the people. Our people are vulnerable to hazardous health risk and challenges.
“The people of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom in its entirety will continue to proffer ideas for development of Delta State in the course of revamping and rebuilding the DELTA all DELTANS crave for,” Akemotubo added.
