Residents from Jigawa State have lamented the destruction of houses and properties accompanied by this year’s flood in some parts of the state.

Reports stated that houses and villages were flooded and properties drowned thereby labelling it as the most disastrous flood the people ever experienced.

It also stated that this year’s flood affected the transportation system as the roads were no longer motorable.

Losses were lives, displacement of about ten thousand community members, and capsized canoes.

Places like Hadejia Emirate, comprising of Hadejia, Birniwa, Kirikasamma, Guri, Mallam Madori, Auyo, Kauagama, and Kafin Hausa LGAs were greatly destroyed.

However, there were exceptions in the Gumel and Kazaure Emirates areas.

According to the statement on social media, victims have hence called for help from philanthropists, Non-Governmental Organisations, and relevant government agencies for food, clothes, and medical care.

It read:

“JIGAWA FLOOD

Jigawa State has never experienced disastrous flood like this year. Houses and villages were flooded and property submerged. Roads, farmlands were washed away and crops therein destroyed.

People cannot travel in/out of their towns because their roads aren’t motorable. Tens of thousand communities’ members were displaced. Canoes capsized. Lives were lost.

With exception of Gumel and Kazaure Emirates, the whole state suffers from the disaster, although Hadejia Emirate, comprising of Hadejia, Birniwa, Kirikasamma, Guri, Mallam Madori, Auyo, Kauagama and Kafin Hausa LGAs, is worst hit.

The victims (in various IDPs camps) are in dire need of assistance from philanthropists, Non Governmental Organizations and relevant government agencies for foods, clothes, drugs and medical attention as well as other must-have items and services.
