Malik Scott, Deontay Wilder’s trainer, confidently predicts that Deontay Wilder will defeat Anthony Joshua in the third round, despite Joshua’s recent victory against Robert Helenius.

Malik Scott, the trainer for Deontay Wilder, gained some valuable insights into Wilder’s mindset by observing the fight.

He recounted, “He (Wilder) expressed that we needed a performance like that.”

After the knockout occurred, Scott immediately connected with Wilder over FaceTime. 

Wilder’s response was one of satisfaction, as he remarked, “I’m pleased he accomplished that; we required a victory exactly like that.”

Scott emphasized the significance of the knockout, amplifying the importance of the upcoming fight. 

He acknowledged Joshua’s accomplishment and said, “The fight holds greater significance for me now due to the knockout. 

Kudos to AJ for delivering.”

While the knockout left an impression, Scott admitted that he wasn’t overly impressed beyond that moment. 

He doesn’t believe the victory suggests imminent trouble in the upcoming January fight with Wilder.

In fact, Scott’s confidence in Wilder has grown.

Helenius, who replaced Dillian Whyte on short notice, stepped in after Whyte failed a drug test shortly before the scheduled match in London.
