Former Real Madrid star Julio Baptista has shared his thoughts on the ongoing GOAT debate, siding with Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo.

In an interview with Oddspedia, as reported by Forbes, Baptista praised both players as the top footballers of the past two decades.

“Both Lionel and Cristiano are incredible players, but I would rate Messi slightly higher,” the Brazilian said.

“Their rivalry in La Liga, playing for Real Madrid and Barcelona, was amazing. The expectations were huge, and they both delivered. Ronaldo is unbelievable, but Messi is a genius. Winning the Ballon d’Or eight times says it all. They are the best players of the last 20 years and probably in the history of football.”
