Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, inaugurated 44 newly elected local government chairmen from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) on Sunday, heralding the recent elections as the “most peaceful” in the state’s history.
The event took place at the Africa House, Government House, Kano, with Yusuf’s Deputy representing him.
In his address, Governor Yusuf commended the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) for conducting a transparent election, despite challenges from politicians attempting to disrupt the process.

He emphasized the administration’s commitment to maintaining existing local councils and ensuring fair treatment, even for members from the opposition APC.
Yusuf’s spokesperson, Bature Dawakin Tofa, expressed gratitude to residents for their orderly participation in the elections.
The newly sworn-in chairmen have been directed to officially assume their roles and inaugurate their vice-chairmen and councilors at their local government headquarters on Monday.
