  • Jackson Omenazu, the newly elected President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has vowed to sacrifice his personal freedom for the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

The newly elected President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Jackson Omenazu, has vowed to sacrifice his personal freedom for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement personally signed by Omenazu, he emphasized that the restoration of peace in Igbo land rests squarely on Kanu’s release.

“I stand resolutely prepared to exchange my freedom, my liberty, and, if need be, my very life, in pursuit of the release of our brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” Omenazu declared.

Omenazu stressed that Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex socio-cultural organization of over 80 million Igbos across the globe, was unwavering in its conviction to explore every conceivable avenue to secure Kanu’s liberty.

He urged President Bola Tinubu to listen to the cries of the Igbo people, even as he offered himself as a guarantor “for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s cooperation post-release, ready to ensure that his return catalyzes healing and reconciliation rather than discord.”

“We recognize the historical precedents set by the Yoruba leadership exemplified in the release of Sunday Igboho, where steadfast solidarity and bold diplomacy carved pathways to justice,” Omenazu noted.

Omenazu announced that Ohanaeze Ndigbo would embark on a strategic collaboration with all religious organizations active within Igbo land, be they Christian, Muslim, traditional, or Jewish. “We shall consecrate the last weekends of each month throughout 2025 as sacred times for prayer, supplication, and ordinances,” he declared.

Omenazu vowed with utmost commitment to this cause.

IPOB Lawyer, Ejimakor Rejects FG’s Move To Set Date For Resumption Of Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial

Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has rejected the move by the Nigerian government to set a date for the resumption of the trial of the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

Ejimakor based his rejection on the fact that Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court entered and enrolled an order recusing herself from Kanu’s trial on September 24, 2024.
