Nigeria’s sprinter Kanyinsola Ajayi will face Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson, this season’s fastest man, in the men’s 100m at the Gyulai István Memorial – Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix in Budapest on Tuesday, August 12.

Thompson ran 9.75 this season and tops the World Athletics rankings.

He headlines a stacked field, so expect a fast, competitive final.
The 100m is the meeting’s showpiece and part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold series.
The lineup features only sub-10 athletes – a tough test for the 20-year-old Ajayi.
Also entered are Akani Simbine, Ferdinand Omanyala, AbdulRasheed Saminu, Ronnie Baker, Chris Coleman, Ackeem Blake, Rohan Watson and Hungarian champion Dominik Illovszky.
Meanwhile, Ajayi – national champion in the 100 metres in 2024 has hit top form this season, posting four sub-10 runs in four months and equalling his 9.92 personal best in July at Sotteville-lès-Rouen.
Paris 2024 Olympic semi-finalist,Ajayi already clinched a World Championships spot.
Budapest therefore gives the 20-year-old another clear chance to prove himself against the global elite.
