Kidnapped Chairman of Private School Owners, Wife Regains Freedom After N12m Ransom | Daily Report Nigeria

Chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools in Delta State Chapter, Monday Ifoghere, who was alongside his wife has been released.

The couple was regained their freedom after spending 7 days in the custody of their abductors.

Deacon Ifoghere and his wife were reportedly released about 5 a.m. on Sunday morning, near Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the State.

Daily Report Nigeria also gathered that the sum of N12 million was paid as ransom to secure the release of the couple.

Family members, friends, and associates of the Delta NAPPS Chairman all contributed to raising the sum, which was first reduced from N200 million to N100 million and then N12 million.

Daily Report Nigeria can recall that Deacon Ifoghere and his wife were kidnapped along the Abraka-Eku road on Sunday, December 12, 2021, while returning home from a function.

Their release was confirmed by the NAPPS National Vice President (South-South), Dr. Ochuko Akpeme, who described the release of the victims as an elevation to his spirit.

“My joy has no boundary. Their release is divine. It is God that made it possible”, he said.

Dr. Ochuko expressed thanks to members of NAPPS all over Delta State for standing in solidarity with their Chairman.

The victims have since been hospitalized and are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

The Delta State Police Command is yet to comment on their release as of press time.
