Popular Nigerian singer Korede Bello recently shared how his surroundings influenced him to start smoking cannabis when he was younger. The ‘Godwin’ hitmaker eventually gave up the habit after realizing it wasn’t for him.

In a recent episode of the ‘Say My Piece’ podcast with actress Omotunde Adebowale David, aka Lolo1, Bello revealed that as a child, he often saw his father smoking.

“I tried weed before, but it’s not my thing. Early on, I was exposed to it because people around me did it. I have an addictive personality, so anything I find pleasurable can become an addiction,” he said.

Korede Bello added that despite his father being a smoker and sending him to buy cigarettes, his father warned him against smoking.

“My dad smoked a lot and often sent me to get him cigarettes. He used to cough a lot, and when I asked why, he’d say it was because of the cigarettes. He’d tell me, ‘If you don’t want to cough like me, don’t smoke,'” Bello recalled.

This advice, combined with his own experiences, led him to view smoking as unhealthy.
