Former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, was laid to rest in his hometown of Owo, Ondo State on Friday, February 23, 2023 amid tears.
Akeredolu’s interment service took place at the St Andrews Anglican Diocese Church, Imola Owo.
His funeral was attended by several dignitaries, including the Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, senators, and governors from the Southwest region.
Akeredolu, who succumbed to Prostate cancer at the age of 67 in a German hospital on December 27, 2023, received heartfelt tributes.

President Bola Tinubu paid his respects, describing Akeredolu as a fearless soldier.
Tinubu praised the Former Governor’s unwavering dedication to his people, referring to him as a courageous warrior.
According to him, the most effective way to serve humanity is through democratic means, willingly presenting oneself to be chosen by the people.
The President commended Akeredolu’s strength of character and acknowledged the sacrifices he made for his community.
Shettima, while speaking, echoed the sentiments, recognizing Akeredolu’s indomitable legacy of service to the nation.
He spoke about Akeredolu’s journey from a distinguished legal career to his influential role as Governor of Ondo State.
The Vice President lauded his exceptional intellect and unwavering commitment to speaking the truth.
