  • Operatives of the Borno State Police command have re-arrested an escaped prisoner from a correctional facility in the state.

  • The convict was said to have escaped following a flood that hit the city of Maiduguri.

Police of the Borno State Police command have re-arrested a suspect, Kyari Kur (aka Henry), 28 who escaped from prison.

Confirming the update, the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Nahun Kenneth Dasoin a statement released on Friday, October 11, 2924 said the suspect waa arrest following credible intelligence.

The statement reads;

“Kyari Kur was serving a jail term for criminal conspiracy and theft at the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri. Unfortunately, he escaped due to the devastating flood incident in September 2024, which collapsed the fence,” 

“On October 10, 2024, police surveillance at Gubio divisional headquarters received a credible tip-off that Kur was sighted in Gubio town. Swiftly responding to the information, the police apprehended Kur.

“The convict has been profiled and will be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action.”

Also weighing in on this, the state commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Lawal Yusufu enjoined the general public to report any form of criminal activities regarding fugitives in the to the phone numbers – 0806 807 5581, 0802 347 3293.

 

“We appreciate the public’s cooperation and urge them to continue providing timely information,” the CP said.
