According to investigators, the suspect is believed to be part of a syndicate notorious for targeting trucks, particularly those slowed or stopped in traffic along the Apapa port corridor. The gang is said to offload goods unnoticed and vanish before drivers realise anything is missing.
Items recovered from Hassan’s Toyota Sienna include 10 cartons of Top Café 3-in-1 coffee, seven Littmann Classic II stethoscopes, medical textbooks, doctors’ manuals, and two pouches filled with surgical kits.
While Hassan was taken into custody, his alleged partner, identified simply as Sheriff, escaped on foot upon noticing police presence and is still being sought.
RRS Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, confirmed the arrest and revealed that the suspect will be prosecuted. He also assured that the search for the fleeing suspect is ongoing, alongside efforts to break up the entire network behind the thefts.
