The Imo State Police Command has arrested a 58-year-old man, identified as Vitalis Nwoko, following the alleged beating to death of his wife, Uloma, during a domestic dispute in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.
According to police authorities, the tragic incident occurred on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the couple’s residence in Umuagba community, Ahiazu Mbaise LGA.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, confirmed the arrest on Sunday night, explaining that the case was reported by the deceased woman’s sister to the Ahiazu Mbaise Police Division.
Preliminary findings revealed that a disagreement between the couple escalated into physical violence, during which Uloma reportedly collapsed.
She was immediately rushed to Cecilia Hospital, Ogbe, where medical personnel confirmed her death.
Confirming the development, Okoye said: “Operatives of the Ahiazu Mbaise Divisional Headquarters have arrested Vitalis Nwoko for the alleged murder of his wife following a violent domestic dispute.”

He added that the suspect admitted that the argument spiralled out of control, leading to the fatal incident.
Following his arrest, Vitalis Nwoko was transferred to the Imo State Police Command Headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Aboki Danjuma, has called on residents to promptly report domestic violence cases, stressing that the Command will deal decisively with offenders.
