A 40-year-old labourer, Lekan Sunday, has been arrested by police operatives from the Ogun State Command for raping a Prophetess inside a church in the State.

The incident occurred at the Orioke Aanu Oluwa Gbohunmi church in the Ilogbo Adu area of Kemta, Abeokuta.

It was said that Sunday entered the church armed with weapons and found the victim sleeping.

He woke her up and held her hostage, threatening her with a knife.

Despite her pleas for help, Sunday insisted on having sex with the Prophetess and eventually raped her.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola the Prophetess explained that the suspect was a mason and laborer in the area.

Odutola said:

“The incident happened last Thursday. We arrested the suspect on Monday. The preliminary investigation into the matter is ongoing.”
