Man Remanded for Stealing Church TVs

Appeal Court Sacks YPP Rep Member, Orders Rerun

A 22-year-old man, Victor Orlando has been remanded in custody by the Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State after pleading guilty to stealing two television sets from a church.

The magistrate, K A Ariyo, ordered that Orlando be held in a custodial facility pending a review of the case’s facts and judgment.

Ariyo then adjourned the case until June 11 for a review of the facts and judgment.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Benedict Aigbokhan, Orlando committed the theft on May 13 at 4:00 am at No 5, Okunogbe Street, Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos State.

The stolen items included a 50-inch plasma television set valued at N600,000 and a 45-inch smart television set worth N220,000, both belonging to the Shining Light Church.

Orlando was caught in the act by security guards, who handed him over to the police.

Aigbokhan stated that the offense contravened section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
