Ratcliffe pointed out that the midfield demands a player who brings more than just defensive capabilities, unlike Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro.

He advocated for a player like Scholes or Iniesta, whose versatility and creativity could significantly enhance the current squad. Ratcliffe further emphasized the importance of prioritizing the acquisition of a midfielder over the potential return of Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Paul Scholes. I think that is the player that is most missing.
“Casemiro and Mainoo are sort of quite defensive midfielders, but they don’t have a Scholes or an Iniesta,” he said.
