Manchester United Drop Mauricio Pochettino from Managerial Shortlist Amid Ten Hag Uncertainty

Mauricio Pochettino

Manchester United have dropped former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino from their list of potential managerial candidates, as the club remains uncertain about Erik ten Hag’s future.

Despite a disappointing season in the Premier League and Champions League, United ended on a positive note by winning the FA Cup, strengthening Ten Hag’s position.

Although there were rumors that Ten Hag would be dismissed regardless of the FA Cup outcome, his future is still in question as the club’s new leadership assesses the season.

Several high-profile managers, including Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi, Zinedine Zidane, Kieran McKenna, Thomas Tuchel, and Pochettino, were considered as possible replacements for Ten Hag.

However, the list has been narrowing, with Pochettino recently being excluded, according to The Times.

The report states that the 52-year-old, who recently left Chelsea by mutual consent, is now out of contention for the Old Trafford role.

Pochettino had been on INEOS’ initial shortlist and had discussions with United officials as part of the club’s annual review process.
