Popular media figure Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, known as Do2tun, has asserted that prior to the boxing match on Friday, many Nigerians doubted Nigerian-British boxer Anthony Joshua’s ability to defeat former Franco-Cameroonian UFC star Francis Ngannou.

In the bout held in Saudi Arabia, Joshua knocked out the former UFC heavyweight champion in the second round, prompting widespread celebration among Nigerians on social media. The Federal Government also joined in by sending a congratulatory message to Joshua via social media channels.

However, Do2tun, expressing his views through his online presence, emphasized that initially, most Nigerians did not support Joshua.

He wrote, “Be honest, so many Nigerians didn’t believe Anthony would win this fight. I did. I said to my friends, ‘Boxing is technical & just cos Francis knocked out Fury who I still think hasn’t fought a good contender doesn’t mean he will beat Anthony.’ We need to do better.â€
