Meta has announced that it will be launching a new paid verification subscription service called Meta Verified for both Instagram and Facebook users.

For a monthly fee of $11.99 on the web and $14.99 on iOS, users will be able to submit their government ID and receive a blue verification badge.

According to Meta, the goal of the new feature was to increase authenticity and security across the services provided by Meta.

Meta also expanded its verification service to businesses on Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

The expansion, it said, will allow businesses to gain access to a “toolkit” that included business authentication with a verified badge, impersonation protection, account support, and features to help businesses stand out.

The monthly subscription for Meta Verified business accounts starts at $21.99/month per Facebook page or Instagram account, or $34.99/month for both.
