Former Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi has shared his thoughts on the Ballon d’Or debate.

Speaking on his podcast, Mikel praised Manchester City’s Rodri as “the best player in the world.”

Rodri is a contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or, alongside Real Madrid stars Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.

The 28-year-old played a pivotal role in Spain’s flawless Euro 2024 campaign, where La Roja ultimately defeated England to claim a record fourth European Championship title in Germany last summer.

“The best player I think for me, in my opinion, in the world now is Rodri,” Mikel Obi said.
