Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has predicted that Chelsea will finish seventh in the 2024-2025 Premier League season, citing doubts about their ability to win many games.

Mikel Obi expressed his skepticism about Chelsea’s new manager, Enzo Maresca, and his ability to handle the challenges that may arise during the season. “I’ve always said I predict Chelsea to finish seventh in the Premier League this season because I just don’t see them winning that many games,” Mikel Obi told beIN Sports.

“I think it’s going to be a tough season, and when the going gets tough, I want to see how Enzo Maresca is going to deal with it.”

Mikel Obi also criticized Chelsea’s decision to put Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah up for sale this summer, describing the move as “bad business.”

“Of course, two young boys that bleed blue, exactly,” Obi Mikel said on The Obi One podcast. “Through and through. At the club when they were little boys and now we have to sell them to make sure it balances the books.”

He added, “I just think it’s bad business from the owners. Absolutely bad business from the owners. Now, we’ve lost two fantastic players.”
