A suspected motorcycle snatcher has been allegedly killed by an angry mob in Makurdi, Benue State, sparking renewed concerns over jungle justice in the state.

The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night, February 15, 2026, around Baptist Secondary School, Achusa, where the suspect was said to have been caught while attempting to snatch a motorcycle.

Eyewitnesses said residents quickly gathered at the scene after the suspect was apprehended. The situation reportedly escalated as the crowd attacked the suspect before allegedly setting him on fire.

Security agencies have consistently warned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, stressing that suspects should always be handed over to law enforcement agencies for proper investigation and prosecution.
