Monbene III, the Ama-Okosu of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, has tasked the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Kingdom to be selfless in the discharge of their duties.

Monbene III stated this during the swearing-in ceremony of the new executives led by Victor Okiri at his palace in Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom on Monday, February 7.

Addressing the Executives, Monbene III stressed that they should not see their new positions as an avenue to enrich themselves, but rather as a place for service.

While congratulating the new leadership, Ama-Okosu stated the commitment of the traditional council in its activities.

He said;

“It has become customary that on this day every two (2) years, there shall be an inauguration of a new Governing Council that shall govern the kingdom in accordance with the Constitution of Ogbe- Ijoh Warri Kingdom, and it is for that purpose we are gathered here today.

“In a previous inauguration two (2) years ago, I stated that the Governing Council should not be the avenue where sons and daughters of Ogbe – Ijoh Warni Kingdom would see as a place for self enrichment but as a place for service, and on this occasion, I hereby further state that the Governing Council is not a place for self-enrichment but a place for service.

“I commend the Electoral Committee for their service to the kingdom and pray God to reward them accordingly.

“I am not unaware of the tension that is normally generated due to election into the Governing Council, but I congratulate everybody that ensured that we got to this point where we have to hug ourselves as brothers and sisters for the common good of Our Kingdom.

“I congratulate all the contestants and those that are to be inaugurated today and I appeal to you to be innovative and creative and use your offices to better the Kingdom.

“The Governing Council should work with all other organs of the Kingdom with a unity of purpose.

“The Governing Council must avoid in-fighting.

“The Traditional Council shall always counsel and advise the Governing Council,” he said.
